The story of Afghanistan
Afghanistan sits at a crossroads of civilizations, on the ancient Silk Road linking Persia, Central Asia, India, and China. Its cities , Balkh, Herat, Kandahar , were centres of Persianate learning and poetry for over a millennium, home to figures like the Sufi poet Rumi, born near Balkh in 1207.
