The Cambodian Premier League (CPL) is the top tier of professional football in Cambodia, featuring 10 clubs competing across 18 matchdays per season. Established in 2004, the league has grown from 6 founding clubs to its current format, averaging 1,200 to 2,500 fans per match at Phnom Penh venues.
League Format and Season Structure
The CPL runs from February to November each year. Each team plays 18 league matches, with the top 6 clubs advancing to a championship playoff round in October. The bottom 2 clubs face relegation to the Second Division. In the 2024 season, 47 goals were scored in the opening 5 matchdays.

Top Clubs and Their Stadiums
Phnom Penh Crown FC is the most decorated club with 9 league titles. They play at the National Olympic Stadium, which holds 50,000 seats. Angkor Tiger FC, founded in 2015, plays at RSN Stadium in Phnom Penh and reached the ASEAN Club Championship group stage in 2023.
Boeung Ket FC, backed by a Thai investment group since 2018, won back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022. Their average home attendance rose 34 percent after bringing in 3 Thai national team players on loan.
Notable Cambodian Players to Watch
Chan Vathanaka remains the most recognised Cambodian footballer internationally, having played for clubs in Japan and Thailand before returning to the national setup. He scored 14 goals in the 2023 CPL season. Keo Sokpheng, 22 years old as of 2025, averaged 2.3 key passes per match in the 2024 season.

National Competitions Alongside the League
The Hun Sen Cup is the primary knockout cup competition, running parallel to the league season. The 2024 edition saw Preah Khan Reach Siem Reap FC reach the final for the first time since 2017. The Cambodian Federation Cup is a secondary tournament for Second and Third Division clubs.
