Who is Sarah-Quita Offringa?

Sarah-Quita Offringa is an Aruban professional windsurfer widely regarded as the most successful competitor in the sport's history. Born on 4 July 1991, she began windsurfing at age nine after her parents introduced her to the sport, and she went on to compete internationally on the Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) World Tour. She claimed her first PWA Freestyle World Champion title in 2008 and went on to win the freestyle world title numerous further times, remaining largely unbeaten in freestyle competition since that year. She has also won world titles in the slalom discipline, first in 2011 and repeatedly through the mid-2010s, and added a Wave World Title in 2019, making her one of the rare windsurfers to hold world championships across multiple disciplines. By the mid-2020s her total tally of world championship titles had risen past twenty, an unmatched record in windsurfing. In honor of her achievements she was knighted in the Order of Orange-Nassau, and in 2025 the Aruban government renamed a stretch of beach near the Fisherman's Huts as Sarah-Quita Beach. She remains a leading ambassador for Aruban sport and for windsurfing worldwide.
