Who is Bankie Banx?

Bankie Banx is an Anguillian reggae and blues musician widely regarded as the island's best-known cultural ambassador, sometimes described in travel and music journalism as 'Anguilla's Bob Dylan' for his gravelly voice and roots-influenced songwriting. Raised on the island, he built a musical career performing across the Caribbean and internationally before returning to Anguilla, where he founded the Dune Preserve, a rustic driftwood-built beach bar and music venue on Rendezvous Bay that has become one of the island's most recognized landmarks. Through the Dune Preserve he also launched Moonsplash, an annual multi-day music festival timed around the spring full moon that draws musicians and visitors from across the region and has run for decades, helping put Anguilla's music scene on the wider Caribbean map. His songs and public persona are frequently woven into Anguilla's tourism identity, and he has been profiled by international travel and music publications as emblematic of the island's laid-back, artistic character.
