Abandoned French Villas walk

4/5

history  ·  Cost: Free  · Daylight

Why visit: Pre-1970s, Kep was Cambodia's elite seaside resort. Khmer Rouge destroyed much of it; the haunted-feeling concrete shells of the old villas line the coastal road. Walk + photograph; some are now squatted by families.
Heads-up: Be respectful — many are inhabited or sacred to local memory.
How to get there: Coastal road, walk or rent a bicycle.
