Anutin Charnvirakul is elected Thailand’s Prime Minister
Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul was elected Thailand’s Prime Minister by parliament on 19 March 2026, forming a 15-party coalition government.
Anutin Charnvirakul, nominated by the Bhumjaithai Party, was elected Thailand’s Prime Minister on 19 March 2026 by the House of Representatives with 293 of 499 votes. He received royal appointment the same day and was formally sworn in by King Rama X on 6 April 2026. His cabinet — the 66th Council of Ministers — is a broad coalition of 15 political parties, with Bhumjaithai holding the largest bloc at 187 seats and the government including seven Deputy Prime Ministers.
