Cyclone Senyar floods Hat Yai and southern Thailand

Cyclone Senyar caused severe flooding across central and southern Thailand in late November 2025, affecting 20 provinces, mainly in the country’s south. Songkhla province was hit hardest, recording its heaviest single-day rainfall in at least 300 years — 335 millimetres on 21 November 2025. The storm crossed the Strait of Malacca and made landfall in Sumatra before moving toward Thailand. Hat Yai city was particularly devastated, with floodwaters reaching up to 2 metres deep and stranding thousands of foreign tourists.
