Phnom Penh hosted the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games from 5–17 May 2023 — the first time Cambodia staged the regional multi-sport event.
The 32nd Southeast Asian Games ran from 5–17 May 2023 in Phnom Penh — the first time Cambodia hosted the event. Eleven nations competed across 37 sports and 584 events with roughly 6,210 athletes. Vietnam topped the medal table with 136 golds, ahead of Thailand’s 108, while host Cambodia finished fourth with 81 golds. China funded the entire roughly $157 million construction cost of the Games’ main stadium.
